Prettl group acquires Kurz group

The Prettl group is acquiring the main assets of Gerhard Kurz elektrotechnischer Gerätebau GmbH. Kurz produces customer-specific electronic control systems, analogue sensors as well as pressure switches and filter change indicators, and is currently in the middle of insolvency proceedings. Through this acquisition, Prettl is preserving a total of 200 jobs at the locations in Althengstett, Germany and Alytus, Lithuania.

Dr Gregor Zwinge and Dr Georg Digele, the executives at Prettl responsible for investing in the Kurz group, had the following to say about the investment, describing how Kurz is to be incorporated into the Electronics Division at Prettl, "We hope to take advantage of the sales and distribution network already available to us, as well as our access to international markets, in order to effectively offset Kurz's weak points and to offer the employees in Althengstett and Alytus the opportunity to join us in successfully developing the Kurz brand."
This approach also won over Martin Mucha, insolvency administrator for the Kurz group, allowing Prettl to win out against competing interested parties over the past weeks.
"The transaction was concluded before the summer holidays, allowing the remaining employees to rest assured that the company will be in good hands. We felt it was very important to give the staff and customers a positive outlook for the future."
A positive outlook for the future is prevalent at the branch in Schalkau, Germany, which focuses on injection moulded plastic parts. Prettl is providing the assurance that the plant will be utilised for the next four months until Kurz has found investors for this area as well.
Prettl acquired the Kurz group through Meteor Unternehmensbeteiligungen GmbH, the affiliated company of the Prettl family foundation. This company promotes entrepreneurs and companies with clear unique selling points or niche applications and supports them in strategic alignment, succession plans and internationalisation.

About Kurz
Prior to becoming insolvent, the Kurz group developed and produced control boards and other electronic components for all major marketplace participants in the household appliance industry. The Kurz group employed around 250 people across five locations. Specifically the group also developed battery management systems, automatic switch-on, soft-start devices as well as motor control systems that make use of microprocessors. The Kurz brand is known for excellent production quality and flexibility, as well as an outstanding level of expertise in solving problems for customers. On 14 April 2016, the operational company Gerhard Kurz elektrotechnischer Gerätebau GmbH filed to open insolvency proceedings. Martin Mucha from the law offices of Grub Brugger & Partner was appointed as the insolvency administrator. He stabilised and liquidated the business operations in collaboration with the restructuring manager Bernd Grupp from the Wintergerst Societät für Unternehmer-Beratung GmbH. In making the sale, the insolvency administrator was advised by a team led by Volker Wintergerst of the Wintergerst Societät für Unternehmer-Beratung GmbH.

REFU Elektronik Reports Update to its REFUdesign Planning Software and REFUlog Monitoring Portal

Pfullingen – After its recent announcement that REFUsol inverters have now been added to REFU Elektronik GmbH's brand portfolio, the company has now reported the release of updates for two of its software solutions, which support users when planning and operating their PV systems. The REFUdesign planning software makes planning systems an easy task, and the REFUlog monitoring portal is ideal for monitoring system data. Both tools can be used online with the same user logon data.

080617_k29_pf_ow 008In the planning phase, users can create the optimum layout for their PV system online with REFUdesign, while accessing an extensive modules database. The module interconnections with the inverters are generated automatically when they create the layout. The tool is available for general use, free of charge, at www.refudesign.de. After registering, the user can also call additional functions: they can personalise the planning result by adding their own logo, save their projects as templates, and add their own module data, which is not available in the database.

REFUsol includes another tool for use during the PV system's 080617_k29_pf_ow 008operating phase – the REFUlog monitoring portal. The operating data is recorded by a data logger which is integrated in the inverter, and then transferred to a web-based database. Using the Internet-based REFUlog tool, the system operator can monitor and analyse this data and ensure they always have a clear overview of the system's returns and profitability. The operator can also use REFUlog to update the firmware in the inverters. This tool can also be used free of charge after registering at www.refu-log.de.

The company will also be presenting the two portals at Intersolar 2016 in Munich, Germany. Visitors to REFUsol's stand in Hall B.2, stand 160, will also be able to try out the new REFUlog app for smartphones with iOS or Android operating systems.

Aircraft Interiors Expo 2016 in Hamburg, Germany is coming to the end

More than 500 companies exhibited in Hamburg the latest trends of the aircraft cabin

Aircraft seats, in-flight entertainment solutions and cabin furnishings and equipment: More than 500 companies presented new concepts around the aircraft cabin. For the 15th time the world´s largest fair for cabin interior have already been taking place in the Hamburg’s exhibition halls.

Airbus for example has presented their new cabin concept "Airspace", Lufthansa Technik showed among other innovations an inductive cooking plate. Besides these major operators 145 new exhibitors presented their ideas. The biggest growth area is the area inflight entertainment and connectivity, where three of the seven halls were devoted to.

This year for the first time three companies of Prettl group presented together the project "Seat Touch Display" with visual and haptic feedback with a fully functional mock up. Low wear and pressure independent one uses this new touch panel. Unintentional operations are not recognized as multiple or simultaneous key presses fields will be rejected by the evaluation algorithms.

This was a very clever idea of  Lesswire GmbH, PAS Deutschland GmbH and Prettl Electronics GmbH.

More than E²MS at the embedded world

Presentation of the joint competence portfolio by Lesswire and Prettl Electronics
The Lesswire GmbH exibits together with the Prettl Electronics GmbH at the embedded world 2016 and offers visitors therefore more than electronics engineering and manufacturing services.

Lesswire completes the eight areas of competence of the leading E²MS provider Prettl Electronics by telemetry platforms and the appendant hardware and software development, which characterise the markets around connectivity. The solutions of the company therefore shape among other things the image of the industry 4.0, the area of smart home, the modern agriculture and also the car-2-car communication.
Because of the close cooperation of both companies results a portfolio, which attends the customer from the first idea until the finished product and beyond. At the same time it allows the flexibility to create links in any part of the process chain.

Such a link for example is the test and inspection technology, which Prettl Electronics offers its customers as internal competences. Because “just early testing helps the costumer to a sustainable competitiveness”, so the company. How this is projected and how Prettl Electronics and Lesswire exactly allow on-site and factory-in-factory concepts, the visitors of the embedded world can convince themselves from 23.
